C2C Pathways Teens Win National Award

Congratulations to the MindSwayer team, Ashley, Brianny and Odalys! This weekend, they competed in Project Invent's Demo Day, a national engineering competition, where they were awarded as a Top 5 Finisher. The team presented their prototype design, MindSwayer, which they have been working on throughout this year's C2C Pathways to Success program. The competition was judged by product designers, STEM education specialists, CEOs and venture capitalist investors. As a winning group, they were awarded $400 to further develop their product.

So what is the MindSwayer? It is an automated sport-playing device that is designed to enhance the abilities of athletes with cognitive or physical limitations. Review their prototype design process. The device will give athletes,' P.E. students, and sports enthusiasts the ability to swing a baseball bat or a golf club with the simple hit of a button, push of a joystick or voice command. Its lightweight and transportable design also makes it easy to move and set-up in a wide variety of settings.

Next up, the team plans to finalize their design and present the model to Jeffco Adaptive P.E., their main partner in this project. The plan is for Jeffco Adapted P.E. to implement use of the MindSwayer for their P.E. students. Ashley, Brianny and Odalys have not only developed a passion for engineering, but also a passion for helping students with adapted abilities. We are all so proud and cannot wait to see what they set their minds to next.
