C2C Pathways: Phase 2 Projects & Creative Ways to Stay Connected

While our facility doors have been shuttered for almost 6 weeks now, our C2C Pathways youth have been busy working on Phase 2 of the program. There are three separate tracks and each one is using a real client and a real-world project.

C2C Job Shadowing (Phase #2) is an opportunity for program youth to do project based learning in collaboration with real-world STEAM industry partners. Teams are self-selected in January through a formal application/ interview process. Projects begin in February and conclude in May with formal presentations of work accomplished.

  • Track #1 - A legacy project with Children's Hospital Colorado & iFuzion to build 3D printed medical teaching aids for children facing surgery to correct walking malformations caused by Cerebral Palsy.
  • Track #2 - A teen focused campaign for JeffCo Public Library aimed at increasing traffic to the library's website & teen landing page.
  • Track #3 - Help a local Montessori Middle School re-imagine their outdoor teaching space by transforming it into a efficient & functioning urban farm/ garden.

Each C2C team is still hard at work on their Phase 2 project during the stay-at-home order. Each team has ongoing communication with their industry partners via the Slack app, and collaborative project work takes place on the Google Drive as youth utilize Docs, Sheets & Slides to build their final presentations. Additionally, partners support youth by sharing useful resources with the team via Slack channels or by leaving notes on presentation slides in the Drive.

On top of collaborating with our C2C members on their Phase 2 projects, our C2C Pathways Coordinator, Cassandra, has found creative ways to interact with the teams each week. Weekly Quaran-TEAM Challenges are left on Slack every Friday to encourage teamwork, challenge program youth to problem solve & mostly just help lighten the overall mood. Prizes for teams have included Starbucks or Jamba Juice gift cards as well as team dinners at local restaurants like Smashburger when quarantine is lifted.

Stay tuned for more updates as Phase 2 comes to a close in the next several weeks.

If you are interested in supporting our C2C Pathways to Success program, we are still looking for Phase 3 internships for our youth. See below for Phase 3 information.
